General questions
For general questions about our service, explore the sections below. To learn exactly what we monitor and how our alerts work, keep scrolling to the sections further down.
What is the main purpose of your service?
The main purpose of Web Outage Tracker is to give small businesses peace of mind by keeping a continuous eye on their digital infrastructure.
We provide reliable, around the clock monitoring to track website uptime and individual user journeys. By pinging your site at regular intervals, our goal is to safeguard your online presence and instantly alert you to any sustained outages or downtime before they impact your customers, your reputation, or your revenue.
How much traffic will your monitoring create?
We'll ping your website every 1-2 minutes, this ping will request a small amount of data that verifies the status of the website.
The amount of data returned varies from server to server but some examples can be found on our monitoring data examples page.

Questions about what we monitor
Explore the sections below to learn exactly what we monitor and how it works. For general questions or more information about notifications, please look elsewhere on this page.
Do you monitor for short outages?
We monitor your website via automated pings every 1-2 minutes to detect and notify you of any sustained downtime. Please note that intermittent outages lasting less than 1 minute may occur between checks and fall outside the reporting window.
Questions about notifications
Explore the sections below for everything you need to know about notifications. For all other questions, please check the rest of this page.
When do you notify us if an issue is detected?
We will notify you of any issues as soon as we detect them. We will also notify you when the issue has cleared and normal service of your web page has resumed.
What notification options are available?
By default, we deliver outage alerts directly to your chosen email address or mobile number. For integrated team workflows, we also support instant notifications via Slack, Discord, or custom webhooks.
We received an outage notification but our website seems fine?
Most websites experience occasional, brief periods of downtime for a variety of routine reasons. These minor blips rarely impact your bottom line and usually aren't worth the time to investigate.
However, a high volume of short outages is often a symptom of underlying issues with your website or hosting provider. While they might not cause an immediate disruption, they are well worth investigating — because if our monitoring services are catching them, your customers likely are too.
